Murder in the Wine Country
This is the sixth book in the Kelly Jackson mystery series. It was fun to do research for it because I put in goat yoga, foraging for wild edible plants, and poaching of a succulent called Dudleya farinosa off of the California coast. The Kindle version will be on sale Thursday, April 20, 2023, for 99 cents.
Easter Treats
Not only were these pretty, they tasted great!
The helper at Redwood Cove Bed and Breakfast starts a baking business in my Kelly Jackson mystery series. These would be fun for her to make.
At Left Coast Crime
I had a wonderful time at Left Coast Crime in Tucson. I was on a great panel called “Animals” with Jennifer Chow, J.C. Eaton, Mary Seifert, and Leslie Blatt as moderator. My publisher, Kensington Publishing Corporation, supplied me with books for a signing along with a number of other authors. Great fun!
(Kim Keeline, thanks for the panel photo. Janet Rudolph, thanks for the portrait photo during the signing after the panel.)
Presentation
I had a wonderful day yesterday being part of a presentation put on by the Alta Mira Club for their mystery tea luncheon. Simon Wood moderated, and I was with author Faye Snowden to answer questions. The Alta Mira home was built in 1860 and purchased by the club in 1926 to keep it from being demolished. It’s their club house. A lot of it is the original house. I’ll add photos. In addition to a great place to meet, we had a fabulous lunch. (My computer is not cooperating. It won’t add photos. I’ll try again later.)
P.S. My first book, Murder at Redwood Cove, should be on sale tomorrow for 99 cents in the Kindle version.
dog cabins
Thank you for all the great ideas for cabin names based on dogs for my next series. Here are only a few of the suggestions: Ridgeback Retreat, Collie Cabin, Shepherd Shack, Chihuahua Cantina, and Retriever Retreat. I’ll make a full list for a post in the future. I stayed at the Carmel River Inn for Poodle Day in Carmel that had cottages and that’s when the idea came to me.
Ruff Draft
I have started a new series. This one involves a dog trainer. She has small cabins on the grounds where she lives for her employees. I’ve decided to name them after dogs. So far I have the Poodle Palace, the Dachshund Den, and the Husky Hideout. If you have some ideas for names, I’d love to hear them (https://www.facebook.com/janetfinsilverauthor).
I still plan on writing a book seven in the Redwood Cove series. The second book, MURDER AT THE MANSION, will be on sale for 99 cents Saturday, January 21, 2023.
Book Sale
I wanted to let you know I recently received a communication from my publisher letting me know my second book, MURDER AT THE MANSION, will be on sale Saturday, January 21, for 99 cents. For dog lovers, the mystery has Fred, a basset hound, that appears in all the books. Jack and Jill, two rescued beagles, are new additions in this story. I worked hard to make all of the books in my series be standalones. I’m pleased to share that all six have received reviews from first-time readers saying they had no problem connecting with the characters even though they hadn’t read the first book.
Mushrooms
When writing MURDER AT THE MUSHROOM FESTIVAL, I took two mushroom identification classes and did a lot of research. What I learned is that there are a LOT of poisonous mushrooms. I was shocked to find these in our yard. I don’t know if they’re poisonous, but I’m not taking any chances They came up very quickly. I’m now doing daily checks for new ones so the dogs don’t eat them.
Ellie
This is our rescue dog, Ellie (boxer/coonhound). She was diagnosed with a large tumor in December. She made it through major surgery, and we got the news at the very end of December that the mass was benign (the vet thought there was a good chance it would be malignant.) The best gift ever for 2022!
