Bouchercon 2017 Panel

Janet Finsilver Posted on October 16, 2017 by JanetfOctober 16, 2017

I really enjoyed the 2017 Bouchercon Mystery Convention in Toronto, Canada, last week. I had a fun time on the “Critters of Crime” panel with Jen Danna, Michael Kurland (moderator), Kelly Oliver, and Eileen Watkins. We discussed what role dogs and cats play play in our books and what they contribute to our writing.

Murder at the Mushroom Festival

Janet Finsilver Posted on September 26, 2017 by JanetfSeptember 26, 2017

I’ve had a busy couple of months finishing book four and planning book five. I also went to Africa on safari. It’s been on my “dream vacation” list for a long time. I’ll be sharing some photos from that experience in the near future. What I’d like to share today is the cover for my next book, MURDER AT THE MUSHROOM FESTIVAL.

Murder at the Mushroom festival is the next in the cozy mystery series by Janet Finsilver set in northern California.

Quail Family

I love animals and was delighted to have a visit from a cute quail family!

Mendocino Flowers

Janet Finsilver Posted on July 23, 2017 by JanetfJuly 23, 2017

Redwood Cove in my Kelly Jackson cozy mystery series is based on Mendocino, California. Whenever I visit there, I take a lot of pictures to help with ideas and descriptions when I write. Here I’m sharing some of my favorite flower pictures from my last trip.

Flowers from Mendocino where my fictitious Redwood Cove in my mystery series is set.

Beautiful Mendocino flowers to show up in my next Redwood Cove cozy mystery series which is something like Murder She Wrote.

I really enjoy the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens and have received a lot of help from them for my cozy mystery series in terms of plants.

Woofstock!

Janet Finsilver Posted on July 15, 2017 by JanetfJuly 15, 2017

I attended a dog show a while back called Woofstock. Posters for each year are hung up and people are encouraged to dress for the show’s theme. It was a lot of fun!

Antique Fire Truck

Janet Finsilver Posted on July 12, 2017 by JanetfJuly 12, 2017

I thought people might enjoy seeing this Mendocino fire truck from 1887. It’s in wonderful condition. I met a man who said he spent most of the previous day polishing the brass. It gleamed!

The Mendocino antique fire truck was on display for the Fourth of July where I was collecting information for book five in the Kelly Jackson cozy mystery series.

Parade Cutie

Janet Finsilver Posted on July 10, 2017 by JanetfJuly 10, 2017

I’ve been totally focused for weeks on finishing, editing, and polishing book four. Its unofficial title is MURDER AT THE MUSHROOM FESTIVAL. I took a few days to go to Mendocino for the Fourth of July. I’ll be using the festivities there in book five. I met this cutie dressed up for the parade.

A Special Birthday Cake

Janet Finsilver Posted on May 26, 2017 by JanetfMay 26, 2017

A special birthday cake was made recently for the president of a dog club. It wasn’t made by a commercial bakery. I think the young woman did an outstanding job! The filling between the cake layers was made up of chocolate, peanut butter, and bananas as well as a few other things. It was REALLY good!

Spring is here!

Janet Finsilver Posted on May 6, 2017 by JanetfMay 6, 2017

It’s wonderful to see the flowers of spring blooming.

The look and smell of flowers are in all of the Kelly Jackson cozy mystery series.

Spring brings such beautiful flowers!

It recently came to my attention that a number of e-mails from people through my website weren’t making it to me. This was very upsetting news as responding to my readers is always a priority for me. If you’ve written to me and didn’t get a reply, I apologize profusely. Not only have you read something I’ve written, you’ve taken the time to correspond with me which I really value. It appears messages made it to the people I use for the site but not back to me. I have a list of those e-mails and have sent a group explanation. If you sent an e-mail and didn’t receive that message, please let me know. I’m so sorry this happened. The problem appears to be fixed. I hope nothing like this happens again in the future and believe I now have a safeguard to be sure I’m receiving my messages. Thank you to everyone who contacted me. I will respond to each of you individually in the near future.
