A Lot of Mushrooms!

Janet Finsilver Posted on December 22, 2016 by JanetfDecember 22, 2016

I had a great time at my mushroom class. The picture is of mushrooms the instructor gathered in his yard in one four hour period. I was amazed at the amount and the variety!

I was at a high school holiday boutique sale with my books today. This sweet senior lady braved the rain to come for a visit.srvhs-dog

Mushroom Class

Janet Finsilver Posted on November 23, 2016 by JanetfNovember 23, 2016

I learned a lot about mushrooms while I was in Mendocino doing research. The class I took had to do with finding mushrooms, cleaning them, cooking them, and the best part–EATING them! I came back with a number of recipes including one for wild mushroom ravioli in porcini mushroom broth and another for making ragout of wild mushrooms with gorgonzola on crostini. I had a lot of fun!

Fort Bragg Presentation

Janet Finsilver Posted on November 17, 2016 by JanetfNovember 17, 2016

I went to Mendocino to attend some Mushroom Festival activities this weekend to gather information for book four. It’s currently called MURDER AT THE MUSHROOM FESTIVAL. I had an opportunity to do a presentation at the Fort Bragg Library. It was wonderful to see how many people were using the library on a Saturday afternoon. I enjoyed the conversation I had with those who attended the talk. We had some fun and shared a few laughs.

Dog Phone

Janet Finsilver Posted on November 5, 2016 by JanetfNovember 5, 2016

While doing research for book three, MURDER AT THE FORTUNE TELLER’S TABLE, I discovered a phone dogs can use. I was amazed. It sits on the floor, and there’s a large button for the dog to push. The dog is taught to hit it in certain circumstances and/or on command. It’s programmed with a number to call in an emergency. It’s called a K-9 Rescue Alarm.

“Muddy Paws” Blues

Janet Finsilver Posted on November 2, 2016 by JanetfNovember 7, 2016

I’m thrilled that we’ve finally had some significant rain. We really needed it. On the other hand, I am singing the “muddy paws” blues. There are eight of them to deal with. They did NOT get into the house without a thorough cleaning!

Ellie and the Puppy’s Bed

Janet Finsilver Posted on October 29, 2016 by JanetfOctober 29, 2016

I was going through some photos and found one of Ellie, our boxer/coonhound rescue, shortly after we brought our ridgeback puppy home. Ellie has been wonderful in terms of being a mother and a playmate. However, she did at times claim the puppy’s bed as I’ve shared in another post. I thought this picture would be fun to for you to see.

Here’s one of my new friends–a Rhodesian ridgeback puppy. His nickname is Zoom. He’s decided he’s a lap dog.

Charlotte, the Incredibly Cute Puppy

Janet Finsilver Posted on October 16, 2016 by JanetfOctober 16, 2016

Here’s some “cute” for the day. This is Charlotte, better known as Charlie. She’s twelve weeks old. I was at an event where antiques were being sold, and it was only her second time out in public. She did really well with the crowd and the MANY people wanting to pet her.

I have a few more photographs from my trip to New Orleans to attend the Bouchercon mystery writing conference I’d like to share. Here are a couple of interesting stores that you won’t find in many places.
