I had a great time at my mushroom class. The picture is of mushrooms the instructor gathered in his yard in one four hour period. I was amazed at the amount and the variety!
Sweet Senior Dog Comes for a Visit
Mushroom Class
I learned a lot about mushrooms while I was in Mendocino doing research. The class I took had to do with finding mushrooms, cleaning them, cooking them, and the best part–EATING them! I came back with a number of recipes including one for wild mushroom ravioli in porcini mushroom broth and another for making ragout of wild mushrooms with gorgonzola on crostini. I had a lot of fun!
Fort Bragg Presentation
I went to Mendocino to attend some Mushroom Festival activities this weekend to gather information for book four. It’s currently called MURDER AT THE MUSHROOM FESTIVAL. I had an opportunity to do a presentation at the Fort Bragg Library. It was wonderful to see how many people were using the library on a Saturday afternoon. I enjoyed the conversation I had with those who attended the talk. We had some fun and shared a few laughs.
Dog Phone
While doing research for book three, MURDER AT THE FORTUNE TELLER’S TABLE, I discovered a phone dogs can use. I was amazed. It sits on the floor, and there’s a large button for the dog to push. The dog is taught to hit it in certain circumstances and/or on command. It’s programmed with a number to call in an emergency. It’s called a K-9 Rescue Alarm.

“Muddy Paws” Blues
I’m thrilled that we’ve finally had some significant rain. We really needed it. On the other hand, I am singing the “muddy paws” blues. There are eight of them to deal with. They did NOT get into the house without a thorough cleaning!
Ellie and the Puppy’s Bed
I was going through some photos and found one of Ellie, our boxer/coonhound rescue, shortly after we brought our ridgeback puppy home. Ellie has been wonderful in terms of being a mother and a playmate. However, she did at times claim the puppy’s bed as I’ve shared in another post. I thought this picture would be fun to for you to see.
Ridgeback puppy friend
Here’s one of my new friends–a Rhodesian ridgeback puppy. His nickname is Zoom. He’s decided he’s a lap dog.

New Orleans Stores
I have a few more photographs from my trip to New Orleans to attend the Bouchercon mystery writing conference I’d like to share. Here are a couple of interesting stores that you won’t find in many places.
