I had a wonderful time at the Mendocino Whale Festival. My husband made a slideshow with whale pictures from our trips to San Ignacio Lagoon. People really enjoyed it. I showed it at one of Saturday’s events and then had a “meet and greet” at the local bookstore on Sunday for my Kelly Jackson mystery series. MURDER AT THE MANSION has Whale Frolic in it which is based on this event. I met a lot of nice people. THEN something happened I’d never experienced before–hail in Mendocino! Luckily it was late afternoon and the events were over.
I’m going to be attending the Mendocino Whale Festival this coming weekend. I’m really looking forward to it. I based Whale Frolic in MURDER AT THE MANSION on it. It made me think of my trips to what I call whale camp in San Ignacio Lagoon. I’ve been three times. It’s the most amazing place I’ve ever been to. I’ve touched whales more than once. The picture in this post shows me touching a young whale.

Unusual Mushroom
I’ve been focused on fungi while writing my fourth mystery
because it has a mushroom festival in it. My husband found THIS next to our driveway! I’ve been finding many different varieties in our yard, but this one is the most interesting so far. I find the different shapes they come in amazing.A Golden Retriever Hero
This is an amazing example of how devoted dogs can be. A golden retriever’s owner slipped and fell in the snow and couldn’t get up. One article I read said the dog stayed next to him in the freezing cold for twenty hours keeping him warm before they were found by a neighbor.

Puppies Being Adopted
I had a wonderful time at Pet Food Express today. I took my young dog there for socializing, and they were having a puppy adoption event going on. There were lots of wide grins and people cuddling puppies. A lot of dogs were adopted today which is always great news!
